GIVING AT INDIAN HILL CHURCH
Stewardship for us at the Indian Hill Church is the giving of our time, talent and treasure as an expression of our appreciation for all that God has given us in our lives. It is giving of ourselves and not asking for anything in return. We at the Indian Hill Church view stewardship in the context of joyful giving. We express and experience, individually and as a church, the truth of Jesus’ teaching that it is indeed a blessing to give.
The Indian Hill Church conducts a faith-based approach to stewardship which focuses not on what the church needs to receive, but rather on our need to give as a response to our commitment to God and to one another as people of faith. This approach also encourages consideration of one’s gift as an expression of commitment to Christ’s church. Each fall, on Stewardship Sunday, church members bring their pledge cards to place upon the altar/communion table as a part of the worship service.
The annual stewardship campaign supports the operating budget of the following year as well as our numerous outreach commitments and opportunities. Most members make pledges which are paid annually, quarterly, monthly or weekly through the use of pledge envelopes.
The stewardship campaign for the year 2007 brought in a total of $930,472 for the church’s operating budget, an increase of 9% from the previous year. A total of 358 individuals or families participated in the campaign, with an average pledge of $2708.
A financial pledge is a symbol of our commitment to God and to the Indian Hill Church. The amount of one’s pledge is not what matters most. All gifts are welcome and are essential to being a part of the Indian Hill Church community. If you would like more information about your own giving, please contact Barb Hoffman, church accountant, at 561 6805 x303.
Stewardship also includes commitments of “time and talent.” The Indian Hill Church provides numerous opportunities for our members to contribute their expertise to many ministries within the church, as well as to a large number of outreach programs in our community.
